BRICK ROW APARTMENTS
INTRODUCTION
The Owners of Brickrow Apartments, Shelter Planning and
Development Inc.; engaged the services of SD Atelier –
Architecture, L.L.C. to perform this feasibility study for seven
different building concerns. The study reviewed and studied the
existing structure’s conditions as well as options of repair,
upgrading and replacement. The necessity for this study is a
consequence of the building’s age, condition / use and the need
for a serious maintenance program.
The
study is intended to address specific concerns of the clients –
relative to the apartment complex and their management office.
Destructive analysis or testing for hazardous materials is not
included within the scope of this study. Also, the study does
not incorporate a total building code analysis for compliance
with the 2003 Building Code of New York State or ADA – except as
noted. The complex, including building and site was visited and
studied by the SD Atelier – Architecture team of Donald Davis
Jr. and Susan L. Davis; (Principals). The heating engineer
George Marshall, P.E. was responsible for the analysis and study
/ design of the existing electric heating system and proposed
solutions. Additional information was obtained from Mr. Robert
Murray (Shelter Planning and Development, Inc.) and John Demars
(charge of Maintenance) at Kingsley Arms, Inc. Additional
information was obtained from the construction documents, dated
8/14/80 and numerous discussions with Robert Murray.
