This project involved a new addition to an operating Veterinary Hospital; ultimately increasing its entire footprint to more than 5,200 sq. ft. The program also involved interior renovations and mechanical and electrical system upgrades. The original structure was built in the early 1970's and is located in a residential district. The use of an Arts and Crafts image and the extension of the front roof the building is designed to respect its context and maintain the residential character. Extension of the front roof offered the additional benefit of providing a protected walk area for dogs and segregating the flow of traffic in and out of the building.

The "low profile" image of the building is broken up by a clerestory light well structure centered behind the entry. This light well provides natural light internally at the reception desk and waiting areas.

The use of stone and fiber cement "wood" siding provides the dual advantages of low maintenance and the image of natural materials.
